Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi book cover

Wow, it’s been quite awhile since I’ve done a Teaser Tuesday post! Today’s teaser is from Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi. I’ve heard so many wonderful things about this book and was thrilled when I found it at the library last week. I just started it last night and I’m not very far into it, but I’m really enjoying it so far. For those of you who don’t know, Homegoing is a book that starts with two young girls, Effia who lives in Ghana and her half-sister Esi who was sold as a slave, and traces their lineage down to modern times. I’m so excited to read more of this book. Here’s a quick teaser from the first chapter:

“Effia had known, of course, that there were people in the dungeons. People who spoke a different dialect than her, people who had been captured in tribal wars, even people who had been stolen, but she had never thought of where they went from there.”
