Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly themed post hosted by The Broke and The Bookish. Each week features a different theme/prompt for which you come up with a list of 10 books. This week’s theme: books I’m looking forward to during the first half of 2017.
2017 is looking like it’s going to be a fantastic year for YA releases. There are SO many books that I’m really, really excited for. These are just a few of them but keep in mind there are a ton more (which I’m sure you’ll hear about on my blog eventually). I also decided not to include any of the 2017 releases I have ARCs for since I personally don’t have to wait until 2017 to read them. These are sorted by release date and all of the links will take you to Goodreads! Now let’s dive in, shall we?
Releases January 10
This is a YA fantasy about a girl who has powers that put her in a lot of danger and she has to fight back against an oppressive government. I’ve seen this compared to Throne of Glass and Red Queen and while I haven’t read the former, I read and loved the latter so I’m hoping this will be a great read.
Releases January 24
I don’t really know what to say about this one. I really want to read it, though. I think it’ll be so interesting to read a book about a girl who was accused of (and spent time in prison for) killing a baby.
Releases January 31
I keep hearing amazing things about this over and over and over again and it’s making me desperate to read this book.
Releases February 7
Even though I wasn’t the biggest fan of Glass Sword, I’m still really excited to read the next book in Aveyard’s Red Queen series. And after that massive cliffhanger in Glass Sword, the wait is killing me.
Releases February 14
As you’ll see in an upcoming post, one of my big goals for 2017 is to read more diversely. This is a great book to help me with that goal since it is a story about a Haitian immigrant and is written by a woman who is a Haitian immigrant (yay, #ownvoices!). I’m immensely excited for this one.
Releases February 28
This is, without a doubt, the book on this list I’m most excited for. I’ve had it pre-ordered for a few months now and I am not totally convinced that I will survive the wait to this book. It’s inspired by Black Lives Matter and tackles the very difficult, but very important, topic of police brutality. I’ve heard nothing but great things so far.
Releases March 28
I’ve gotten more interested in thrillers/mysteries recently, so I’ve been looking for more YA books like that. This sounds like it’s going to be a very interesting and suspenseful book and I can’t wait to get my hands on it.
Releases April 11
I’ve yet to read Albertalli’s other (and incredibly popular) book Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda but I’ve heard wonderful things about her writing and so I’m excited for this one.
Releases April 11
I read Hillyer’s debut which was a contemporary called Proof of Forever and thought it was a pretty good book. I’m interested to see how she handles fantasy. Plus, it’s a Sleeping Beauty retelling and I love retellings. 🙂
Releases May 30
Back in October, I read Asylum and liked it quite a bit. I still need to read the rest of that series, but I’m also really excited to read House of Furies. I’m interested to see how different/similar it will be to Asylum.
